Three Man Down is a Thai pop band from Bangkok, Thailand.

History

Three Man Down was started by Krit Jirapattananuwong (Kit), who was attending university and wanted to make a band, so he invited his friends to join this band. Until he met Peerapol Iamjamrat (Toon) and Kittimet Chanpanich (Ohm). First, their band is a rock style. The name Three Man Down comes from the members of Three Man Downs who used to have three bands in high school and then disbanded when they went to college. Three man down is like three dead.

In the beginning, this band was the starting band with a contest. The first place to contest was 5 GUM event, a collaboration between A day Magazine and Believe Records, held at Siam Discovery.

Turning point

They went to many other contests until a turning point when they contested at the Melody of Life event and were inspired to turn into a band that released their songs instead. Toon, one of the members of the band, said that because other bands have their songs, even though we have the contest in many stages, we still don't have our style. After that music contest, They decided to stop the contest and start looking for a unique style. Do some music of their own.

The first song called Kum Tum Nai. The first song called Kum Tum Nai, this song will become another important turning point for the band because they still can't find the style of the group but after that the band has Sung Mattnimare. He became a music producer and made the band discover their musical identity. Initially, they were under the Malama Collective or Microwave and released the song 'Kang Kun' which received quite a good response.

This made them want to step out into the bigger music market. 'Ohm Cocktail'co-founder of Gene Lab find music band to audition with Gene Lab. And Three Man Down didn't let this opportunity slip away. They showed all their agility until they made it to the last 6 out of 307 groups, and were finally accepted and signed by Gene Lab.

Musical style and influences

Most of the Three man Down members studied film so They will think like a musician a little. When making music, they think from the picture first and then add the music and details later. They  write a song based on the concept. Tae, a member of the band, said This band uses a director system to think and produce works. Let's share who has a strong point and take care of that. So their work is like making movies.

In the beginning, Three Man Down still couldn't find their style. Therefore, each person's style has been mixed in their song. Until they met Sung Mattnimare who was a major turning point in their music style. He give more direction to this band and become Three Man Down in pop rock style today.

Awards and recognition

The first successful song

The first successful song of this band is Fon Tok Mai. It was very successful and able to reach number one on the music charts of Spotify, iTunes, Apple Music, and Joox. Later, he released the song Lueak Kon Tee Kao Rak Rao, which reached number 7 on the chart and then their release Fun Teung Fan and  reached number one on Spotify, iTunes, Apple Music chart and Joox.

Became famous from phrase "Hey Bell" came from Tha Ter Rak Chun Jing's MV

Three man down doesn't stop at this point.They released the song Tha Ter Rak Chun Jing at the end of 2020, which became famous because the catchphrase "Hey Bell" came from the song's MV. The song has also experienced Three man down talent. This song became number one on the Spotify, iTunes ,Apple Music chart. and Joox as well.

In early 2021, they released a song Dao Mai Keng which caused criticism that the song had a similar melody to Owlet Lounge's "Blue Sky". They later apologized and said that they didn't mean to copy the faded blue song at all and that the same melody was just a coincidence, Owlet Lounge confirmed that as well.[1]

In March of the same year, they released their album, This City Won't Be Lonely Anymore, which opened for reservations on March 25th, which sold out the same day.
