Works[edit]
Videoinstallations[edit]
In the years 2007–2010, Hilden received great international press attention for the art project "City On Fire" where large cultural monuments were symbolically burned by means of video projections that enveloped the monuments in a powerful sea of flames. At this point in 2007, the synchronization of the many video projectors was a spectacular sight and "City On Fire" received a lot of media attention from the BBC, CNN, Euronews and RAI. During these years, the artist performed many symbolic burnings of museums, churches and monuments such as: Colosseum in Rome, Italy ARoS Art Museum, Church of Our Lady, Katharinenkirche, Frankfurt, SOMA Museum of Art, Seoul, Korea, PinchukArtCentre, Ukraine, Holy Trinity, Gdansk, Poland among others.[1][2][3]
The light installation "Forms in Nature" inspired by Ernst Haeckel was created in 2010 in co-oporation with the artist Pio Diaz. The installation is a simple symmetric 3D structure with a light source, almost like a lamp. This lamp creates an impressive symmetric shadow ornamentation of naked beaches in the walls where it is mounted. The installation casts a poetic and mysterious shadow play in space that gives associations to H. C. Andersen's fairy tale Sleeping Beauty
The light Installation "Shadows" was created 2010 in co-oporation with the artist Pio Diaz. The installation consist of 10 RGB light sources in slow transition, always blending into white light. The moment the viewer enters the circle, the white light will be broken as in a prism, and contrast-colored shadows will be thrown into a star shape around the viewer. This makes all the colors, which previously have been present in the white light, visible to the viewer as a color palette on the floor. This installation has similarities to the light works of Olafur Eliasson.[4]
Huge symmetric oil paintings inspired by nature 2020–[edit]
Today, Hilden works exclusively with symmetrical oil paintings in large formats inspired by alchemy in nature, Hermann Rorschach and the giant Rorschach works by Andy Warhol. Her large paintings are mirrored over a vertical axis that creates balance in an otherwise chaotic abstract colorful expression. The symmetry causes the paintings to suggest shapes from nature and the trillions of animals that appear to be symmetric. Cracks and irregularities become apparent in the mirror. Here the magic occurs and we understand that there is more than what meets the eye.
Releases[edit]
In the years during her education, Hilden published three art books: "Det Synkrone" with seven photo series, published by "Borgens Forlag", the book "Råstof" a 70 pages theoretical publication on the art of the insane and the publication "Kemo Terror" with a large collection of drawings by an unknown artist. Later, this release has been reprinted in collaboration with Anders Benmouyal. The artist Tal R has also made use of the drawings from the book "Kemo Terror" in his work.
