"Tightrope Ride" is a song by the American rock band the Doors released as a single from the album Other Voices in 1971. It was released after the death of singer Jim Morrison.
Composition and lyrics
The lyrics address Jim Morrison's self-destructive lifestyle.[4]
Release
Ray Manzarek chose "Tightrope Ride" and "Ships w/ Sail"s as the singles as they were his favorite songs from Other Voices.[5]
Reception
Record World said the song was a "knockout rouser that amply demonstrates the band's ability to rock on successfully with other voices."[6] Cashbox called it a "cut which should have no trouble proving that the group is an eternal on both singles and album charts. A mover, start to finish."[7] The Guardian critic Annie Zaleski ranked it number 28 in her ranking of the best songs by the Doors, stating it was a "garage-rock barnburner" and it was "led by Manzarek’s cathartic howl".[2]
