Tikki Taylor (born Joyce Taylor; 30 June 1928 - 1 September 2011) was an Australian television and stage actress, singer and dancer.[1] Best known for her work with J.C. Williamson's.
Personal Life[edit]
Taylor was born Joyce Taylor in Melbourne, Australia on the 30th of June 1928. She studied dancing at the Jennie Brenan studio and made her stage debut at age 6. [2] Taylor was married to fellow actor-producer John Newman, and together had three children.
Career[edit]
Taylor started her career whilst in her teens, working in the chorus and ballet roles. In 1949 she played the role of Ado Annie in the J.C. Williamson's production of Oklahoma!.[3] In 1957, Taylor was cast as Gladys in the first Australian production of The Pajama Game, alongside Toni Lamond, Jill Perryman, and her husband John. It was during this time that she changed her professional name from Joyce to Tikki.
