Timothy Neal Coulson (born 31 July 1968[1]) is a biologist whose research focuses on the how environmental change impacts the ecology and evolutionary of animals. He is the current Professor of Zoology and joint head of the Department of Biology[2] at the University of Oxford, and a Professorial Fellow of Jesus College Oxford.[3]
Life and Career[edit]
Tim Coulson schooled at Barton Church of England Primary School[1], Comberton Village College[1], and Hills Road Sixth Form college[1] before spending a year in rural Zimbabwe when he decided to pursue a career in biology instead of maths. After graduating in Biology from the University of York[1] in 1986 he obtained his doctorate from Imperial College London in 1994. He held a series of positions becoming Professor of Population Biology at Imperial College London in 2007[4]. He was appointed Professor of Zoology at the University of Oxford and professorial fellow of Jesus College Oxford in 2013[5]. He was head of department of Zoology between 2018 and 2021 and is currently joint head of Department of Biology along with Mark Fricker[6].
Tim Coulson has been chief editor of Journal of Animal Ecology and Ecology Letters[7], a member of council of the University of Oxford[8], and is currently Vice President (membership) of the British Ecological Society[9].

Personal Life[edit]
Tim Coulson married Elodie Hudson in 1997[citation needed] and they divorced in 2012[13]. He married the evolutionary biologist Sonya Clegg in 2014. He has three children from his first marriage[14].
