Tim Johnson (born June 29, 1968)) is an American entrepreneur and health and wellness executive of big brands[1]. Johnson is president of Denver-based We Spread Health.[2], an owner and operator of CorePower Yoga and Orangetheory_Fitness franchises in the Rocky Mountain region.

Early life and education[edit]

Johnson attended Lakeville High School(1986) in Lakeville, MN., and studied business at Arizona State University(B.S.1990). Johnson was influenced early in his life by his dad who later became a business consultant specializing in mergers.

U.S Ski Team[edit]

Johnson was captain of the demonstration team in Vail, Colorado for name-brand products used by the U.S. Ski Team. He turned to yoga after a knee-injury from skiing for physical therapy.

Telecommunications[edit]

Johnson worked in the telecommunications industry for MCI (1993-1998) in St. Paul, Minnesota for three years. Later, he joined ICG Telcom (1998-2001) in Denver.

Health & Wellness[edit]

Denver Yoga Studios[edit]

In late 2001-2003, Johnson started two yoga studios -- Bikram on Broadway and Hot Yoga on Hampden -- in Denver that used heat and more physical Vinyasa workout.

CorePower Yoga[edit]

In 2004, Johnson merged his two studios [3], with Trevor Tice and Dave Porter's [4]two studios and Brandon Cox’s [5] one studio. The four men operated the five studios under the CorePower Yoga brand in Denver, Colo. from 2004-2012.[6] Johnson was director of CorePower Yoga's Colorado headquarters during this time, and was responsible for locating real estate across the country for new yoga studios.[7]

Along with Cox, Tice and Porter; Johnson expanded CorePower Yoga studios in Minneapolis-St. Paul, MN.[8]; Portland, OR; San Diego, CA; Huntington Beach, CA; Orange County, CA; Hollywood, CA; and Chicago, IL.

L_Catterton invested in the 89 studios in 2013.[9] CorePower was purchased in 2019 by TSG Consumer Partners.[10]

Today, Johnson is a franchisee of five CorePower Yoga studios in Colorado and Utah.

We Spread Health[edit]

Johnson is president of We Spread Health, owner and operator of health and wellness franchises including CorePower Yoga and Orangetheory Fitness.

In 2018, We Spread Health purchased seven Colorado Orangetheory Fitness studios and three more in 2019 bringing the total to 16 Orangetheory Fitness locations owned and operated by Johnson in Colorado.[11]

Orangetheory Fitness Colorado[edit]

Orangetheory Fitness, founded in Florida (2009), has grown to more than 1,400 locations in 49 states and 21 countries. Johnson is Area Developer for Colorado and Wyoming [12]; and a multi-unit franchise owner and operator. Based out of Colorado Orangetheory headquarters in Greenwood Village, Colorado, Johnson started with Orangetheory in 2013 when he opened Orangetheory Fitness' 37th studio.

Under the Orangetheory Fitness MoreLife Initiative, Johnson and the Colorado franchisees host charitable fundraisers for nonprofits such as Children's Hospital Colorado Muscular Dystrophy Association Rocky Mountains, Augie's Quest [13] [14] [15]

Family Life[edit]

Johnson lives in Cherry Hills Village, Colorado, with his wife (Julie Johnson), and their children. He studied business purchasing at Arizona State University in Tempe, Arizona, receiving a bachelor of science degree.
