Tim Maier (born Timothy J. Maier on September 18, 1962 ) is an American actor, best known for Psycho II, Raw courage, Turnaround, Little House on the Prairie and Rituals.

Born in Los Angeles, Tim was registered in the Academy Players Directory [1] as child and teen actor in Films and Television from 1969 to 1980.[2] The Academy Players Directory, known as the 'Industry Standard' since 1937, was a casting reference of professional actors, including photos of actors and the name of their agent or industry contact.[3]


Career[edit]

His first credited performance was in the American television anthology series ABC Afterschool Special as Danny Kohl in the episode "The Rag Tag Champs" aired on March 22, 1978 (Season 6 Episode 5).

Tim Maier guest-starred as Kip Saunders in an episode of Chips entitled "Wheeling", season 3 episode 14 aired on 8 December 1979.

In 1980, Tim Maier performed a role as guest-star in Little House On the Prairie. He played Chad Brewster, a school student that Laura (Melissa Gilbert) taught in the episode of "Sweet sixteen" aired on February 25, 1980 (Season 6 Episode 22). He is the boy that Almanzo (Dean Butler) punched out when he tought he was making advances to Laura.[4] That year, he also played in an episode of Family with a famous co-star Dana Plato.

In 1981, he appeared in the TV film Coward of the county opposite Kenny Rogers and Fredric Lehne.

In 1983, Maier appeared in the second installment of the Psycho franchise, Psycho 2 as Josh, a young resident of Fairvale, California. The same year, he played the character of Steve Davies on the serie ABC Afterschool Special in the episode "Have You Ever Been Ashamed of Your Parents ?" with Marion Ross and Jennifer Jason Leigh.

His first leading film role was in Raw courage (1984) as Craig Jensen alongside Ronny Cox, Art Hindle and M. Emmet Walsh.[5] It filmed in the summer of 1983 in and around Las Cruces, a city in Doña Ana County, New Mexico.[6]

Tim Maier was part of the main cast for the soap opera series Rituals in the role of Jeff Robertson Chapin[7] with Monte Markham, George Lazenby and Gina Gallego. It aired in syndication through Telepictures from September 10, 1984 to September 6, 1985.[8]

In the TV film Between the Darkness and the Dawn, he played a double role alongside Elizabeth Montgomery, Karen Grassle and Dorothy McGuire (NBC network on 23 December 1985)

In 1987, he played one of the lead roles in the movie Turnaround[9] filmed in Norway by Ola Solum with Eddie Albert and Doug McKeon.

In 1991, Tim Maier guest-starred in an episode of New Adam-12, a remake of the popular and long-running late 60s-70's police drama of the same name, with Mariska Hargitay.

Tim Maier retired from television and film work in 1994.
