Tim Williams (born August 10, 1985) is an American mixed martial artist who competes in the middleweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). He also appeared on two seasons of The Ultimate Fighter.

Early life[edit]

Williams graduated from Millville High School in 2004. At the age 18, while driving under the influence, Williams was involved in a near-fatal car accident in which a shard of glass became lodged against his carotid artery.[1] After recovering from the accident, Williams got into mixed martial arts.[2]

Mixed martial arts career[edit]

Williams made his mma debut in 2007[citation needed] going undefeated in his amateur career. As he was preparing in 2008 for a bout against Chris Weidman in what would've been his professional debut, a New Jersey state-mandated CT scan revealed a nine-millimeter brain aneurysm. The bout was cancelled. After brain surgery, Williams was in non-compliance with the recovery process. Six months later, the aneuryism was found in a subsequent CT scan to have grown larger, necessitating a second brain surgery. Williams now requires a CT scan before every fight.[3]

Williams his pro debut in 2008.[citation needed] Williams won his first 7 fights, winning the LITC Middleweight Championship in the process.

Williams suffered his first mma loss after being stopped by former UFC vet Dustin Jacoby at CFFC 16. Williams was able to bounce back with three wins including winning the vacant CFFC Middleweight Championship after outpointing Ron Stallings.

Williams was than set to defend his championship against another former UFC vet Anthony Smith.[4] Smith was able to submit Williams in the second round with inverted triangle choke. A rematch between the two was then setup for CFFC 50 with Smith walking away as the victor again this time via first round TKO.[5]

After the loss to Smith Williams went on a five fight win streak with wins over former UFC & Bellator vets Nah-Shon Burrell & Jay Silva earning himself a UFC Contract.

The Ultimate Fighter[edit]

Williams first appeared on The Ultimate Fighter 17 losing to Dylan Andrews in the elimination round.[6]

Williams came back for The Ultimate Fighter 19 defeating Bojan Veličković and earning himself a spot in the house.[7] After being the 7th pick for Team Penn, Tim took on Team Edgar's 6th pick Dhiego Lima. Williams lost via rear-naked choke.[8]

The Ultimate Fighting Championship[edit]

It was announced on January 12,2018 that Williams had signed with the UFC and will be making his debut at UFC Fight Night 126 against Oskar Piechota.[9]

Personal life[edit]

While training at night, Williams works in the day building scaffolding as a union carpenter. He lives with his fianceé, Karen Ruberts, in a home in Millville, New Jersey with two dogs.[2]
