Todd Collins is an American entrepreneur and philanthropist. He is known for being the CEO and founder of Charlotte-based investment firms Red Hill Ventures and Red Hill Capital.[1]
Early life and education[edit]
Todd Collins was born to Ernest and Floretta Collins in Dallas, TX.[2] Collins graduated from Morehouse College with a bachelor’s degree in marketing. He graduated from George Washington University with an MBA in finance.[2]
Career[edit]
After finishing his undergraduate studies, Collins worked as a senior manager at IT and consulting company Accenture.[2][3] In 2005, he founded Red Hill Ventures.[2][3][4]
With Red Hill Ventures, Collins focused on commercial property acquisition and development of operating companies.[1][5][6] Through Red Hill Ventures, he invested in companies such as community kitchen The City Kitch[3][7] and Park-N-Shop.[8] In 2010, Collins also founded the Red Hill Ventures Internship Program for high school students interested in commercial investment and management.[1] In 2019, Red Hill Ventures was ranked the second-largest Black-owned company by the Charlotte Business Journal.[9] In 2021, Collins was selected by Business North Carolina Magazine as one of the state’s dynamic diverse leaders.[4] And in 2022, Red Hill Ventures was cited as a top business in NC.[10]
In 2020, Collins founded Red Hill Capital, an offshoot of Red Hill Ventures that serves as an “angel investor” for minority and founder-led businesses in the real estate and technology industries.[1][4]
In 2021, Collins and his wife Janelle collaborated with the Atrium Health Foundation to found the Todd and Janelle Collins Nurse Aid Scholars Program at the Carolinas College of Health Sciences, which helps remove barriers for students of color by providing full-tuition scholarships and part-time work for nursing students.[11][12][13]
Collins is also a member of organizations such as the YPO (Young Presidents Organization), the Atrium Health Foundation,[14] and the Good Fellows Club.[1][15]
