Todd L. Pittinsky (born September 18, 1970) is a professor at Stony Brook University, State University of New York (SUNY), in the Department of Technology & Society. At Stony Brook, he has served as the faculty director of the Undergraduate College of Leadership and Service.

Before that, he was on the faculty of the Harvard Kennedy School (assistant professor, associate professor) where he also served as the Research Director of the Harvard Center for Public Leadership, where he was principal investigator of the multi-year National Leadership Index—a collaborative project with U.S. News and World Report—and led the taskforce which developed the Harvard CPL Leadership Development Model.

He has also served, part-time, on the faculty of the Harvard Graduate School of Education.

Life and career

Pittinsky has worked professionally in organizational and leadership development roles at the Families and Work Institute, KPMG, Netscape Communications Corporation, Loudcloud and Opsware. He has served as a consultant to large and small organizations including Bright Horizons, Catalyst, General Motors, the U.S. National Nuclear Security Administration, and the World Bank.

In 2004, he launched the Allophilia Project to better understand and communicate the science of intergroup liking—attitudes beyond tolerance.[1]

His research has been profiled in The Boston Globe, The Economist, and on National Public Radio (NPR).[2][3][4]

Pittinsky received his BA from Yale University and his PhD jointly from Harvard University and the Harvard Business School.

Pittinsky received his BA from Yale University and his PhD jointly from Harvard University and the Harvard Business School. He is a graduate of Baldwin High School, a public high school located in Baldwin, Nassau County, New York, where he was the class Valedictorian.[citation needed]
