Tokugawa Hiroko
Princess Tokugawa Hiroko (徳川泰子, October 21, 1867 –March 13,1944) was wife of Tokugawa Iesato who was the Speaker of the House of Peers of Japan and the first head of the Tokugawa clan after the overthrow of the Tokugawa bakufu.
Early life
Tokugawa Hiroko was born in Kyoto in 1867. She was the eldest daughter of Konoe Tadafusa. She was engaged to Tokugawa Iesato and was trained at Tenshō-in, her aunt-in-law (her patrilineal aunt) at Tokugawa's residence in Sendagaya.
Russo-Japanese War
She served as Chairman of the Japanese Red Cross Society Tokushi Nursing Women's Association, Chairman of the Nadeshiko Association, and Director of the Patriotic Women's Association, and emphasized women's nursing, and supported the injured soldiers in Japan during the Russo-Japanese War and was active, so she was given the Order of the Precious Crown by Emperor Meiji.
