Tony Hu (restauranteur)
Tony Hu (born 1967)[1] is a celebrity chef, restauranteur, culinary mentor, and community leader.[2] Hu is one of the most well known restauranteurs in Chicago as he is the owner of many authentic Sichuan style restaurants such as Lao Sze Chuan.[3][4] Hu is known and praised for providing traditional Sichuan style cuisine with high-quality ingredients.[4] He is also viewed as a trailblazer for introducing original Sichuan Cuisine to the then largely Canton Cuisine dominated Chinese culinary industry.[4]
Early Life and Education[edit]
Before immigrating to the United States, Hu resided in China's Sichuan Province.[4] In 1989, Hu graduated from the Culinary Institute of Sichuan, China's first culinary institute.[2] In 1993, Hu immigrated to the United States as a special technician chef and settled in Chicago.[2] In Chicago, he established himself as the pioneer of authentic Sichuan style cuisine.[2]
