Too Faced is an American cosmetics company founded in 1998 by couple Jerrod Blandino and Jeremy Johnson. The inception of the company happened as a result of founder Blandino's experience working at an Estée Lauder makeup counter at a Saks Fifth Avenue in California. Estée Lauder Company acquired the company in November 2016 for $1.45 billion USD. The brand is cruelty-free.

History

Too Faced launched as a result of founder Jerrod Blandino's experience working at an Estée Lauder makeup counter at a Saks Fifth Avenue store located at South Coast Plaza mall, in Costa Mesa, California.[1] Blandino explained the term Too Faced was coined as a phrase for clients and customers who would “come in and completely melt down” if the store was out of stock of a sought-after cosmetic product: “we’d be like, be careful, this one is too faced.”[2]

Estée Lauder Companies announced the departure of Blandino and co-founder Jeremy Johnson from the company after 24 years in May 2022, with Blandino and Johnson officially resigning from their roles on June 30, 2022. Tara Simon, who had previously held the role of Senior VP & Global General Manager at the company, was promoted to the role of Global Brand President on July 1, 2022.[3]
