Tortoise Media is a British news website co-founded by former BBC News director and The Times editor James Harding.[1]
A funding campaign for the site launched on Kickstarter in October 2018 raised £539,035 with the site going live in April 2019.[2] The site's editors say Tortoise Media is dedicated to delivering "slow news," funding its journalism in part through annual subscriptions.[3] The site's slogan is "Slow down, wise up."[4]
