Toshakhana reference

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

The Toshakhana reference is case against former Prime minister of Pakistan Imran khan filed by the Pakistan Democratic Movement in August 2022 for not providing information of gifts and money from their purported sale.[1]

On 21 October 2022 Khan, the head of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, was disqualified by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), for making "false assertions and erroneous declarations" in the reference under Article 63(1)(p).[2][3]

Protests over the verdict[edit]

Protests in Islamabad, Lahore, Peshawar, and Karachi were also reported. Workers from the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) gathered at the Faizabad junction, but police stopped them from marching on Islamabad. Police began firing as the demonstrators moved forward. Additionally, PTI employees barricaded Murree Road with burning tyres.[2]

Workers from the PTI protested in Rawalpindi's Bakra Mandi Chowk, the district of Punjab minister Raja Basharat. Party members shouted chants in opposition to the Election Commission of Pakistan's verdict.[2]
