Totally Reliable Delivery Service

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Totally Reliable Delivery Service is a Ragdoll physics simulation video game developed by We're Five Games and published by TinyBuild. It was released in April 2020 for Epic Games, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, Android (operating system) and IOS, with a Steam (service) version announced to be released in April, 2021.

Since the launch in April 2020, the game has received more than 14 million downloads across platforms as of March 2021. Reviewers acclaim the humorous gameplay originated from the comedic physics system.

Gameplay[edit]

Totally Reliable Delivery Service is a Ragdoll physics simulation where players play as terrible package delivery couriers and attempt to complete delivery missions using a collection of vehicles and tools. As a character customized with appearances of their own choices, players make sure the packages get sent to the destinations safely and timely within an Open world Sandbox.[1]

The missions differ in terms of distance and requirements. Some of them can be completed with a golden cup by foot while others would require more creative thinking and a combination of actions including driving, sailing, flying, or flinging the package out a cannon.[2]

The game supports both local and online multiplayer, and has been acclaimed for the funny collaborative chaos it often caused in multiplayer mode. Besides the unpredictable accidents resulted from the ragdoll physics, the variety of vehicles, ranging from choppers to fire hydrants, allows the players to be distracted from their core business of delivering goods in the open world.[3]

Development[edit]

Totally Reliable Delivery service was initially built by a team of two, Brent Boehner and Kyle McKeever. The development started in October 2017 right after they finished the work on another title called “Morphite”.

It took a little more than half a year for the two developers to have a playable version on the wheels, which they took to game shows in order to find a publishing partner. The game attracted the attention of the Seattle based publisher TinyBuild and a partnership was signed between TinyBuild and We’re Five Games.

The game was released in April 2020 for Epic Games, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, Android (operating system) and IOS, with a Steam (service) version announced to be released in April, 2021.

Reception[edit]

Totally Reliable Delivery Service received "mixed or average" reviews, according to review aggregator Metacritic[4] [5][6][7] and has been rated as "Very Positive" on Steam (service) with a Beta version.  Matt Salmon of CoachingForGeeks recommended the game as a fun physics based game that forces you to deliver parcels in the most preposterous way with your friends.[8] Pieter "SuikerBrood" Jasper of XBOXERA stated the game had an emphasis on spontaneous "laughing at America’s Funniest Home Videos" kind of fun. [9]

Since the game has been released it has been downloaded by over 14 million users, was streamed by more than 15,000 content creators and received 988,178 hours of watched gameplay time.[10]
