Tour security

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Tour Security refers to the personnel responsible for securing the artists, crews, and equipment of live music acts while they are on the road. Each tour is different, therefore the tour security crews can be as small as one person, or as big as five or more.

Tour security staff are generally broken into two different classifications: venue security and personal security.Tour security usually does not just involve on site security of a venue. Such services include; Close Protection, this involves personal protection for all major members of the band, threat assessments, the process whereby usually a complex report will be delivered to the tour manager pointing out all major threats and risks that could become issues on the tour. Other services involve secure transportation, airport VIP escorts, and personnel training.

Venue Security[edit]

Those responsible for venue security, are responsible for doing the advance work with the venues, overseeing deployments and emergency response plans, etc., for each individual performance. The venue coordinator will be the person who conducts the security meeting before each performance, and is generally the lead member on the security team.

Personal Protection[edit]

Those responsible for the security and safety of the talent, are close protection experts, commonly known as bodyguards. They generally work directly for the tour management and do not deeply get involved with the venue side of the operations.
