Tourettic OCD

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Tourettic OCD describes behaviours and symptoms seen in both Tourette syndrome and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, however not exclusive to one of these conditions and instead a combination, or overlapping, of both.

There is mounting evidence that Tourettic OCD is a disorder distinct from Tourette syndrome (TS) or OCD alone.[1]

Symptoms can consist of behaviours such as touching, thoughts of 'exactness', and repeating tics until it feels 'just right'.[2] Motor actions similar to motor tics may be carried out to gain relief from negative thoughts, or feelings that 'something bad might happen'. [3]

Increased awareness in the last 10–15 years of an overlapping of tics and OCD suggests symptoms are not unique to one disorder alone, representing a unique phenomenology. [1]

Tourettic OCD may also be referred to as 'Just Right OCD', with many articles using both terms. The need for feelings to be just right has been labeled the 'just right phenomenon', and has been described as the 'hallmark of TOCD'. [1]
