Tower of Justice is the tower in Topkapi Palace. It is right next to the Kubbealtı building.
History
It was first built during the reign of Fatih Sultan Mehmet. It was expanded by Süleyman I between 1527 and 1529. Mahmut II rebuilt the upper part of the tower in 1825.
Specifications
It is located between the harem and Kubbealtı where the divan is gathered. It is the tallest structure of the palace. When viewed from the Bosphorus, it is the most distinctive part of the palace; it has a monumental place in the silhouette. It was aimed to symbolize the eternal justice of the Ottoman sultan, to be seen by everyone from afar and to assure them of the sultan’s justice. [1]
