Training Day: Day of the Riot (TBA)[edit]
In October 2019, a prequel film was announced to be in development with a script written by Nick Yarborough. The plot will take place a decade before the first film, and include the 1992 Los Angeles riots after the controversial Rodney King verdict.[2] In February 2022, the project entered pre-production with a California state tax credit of $9,086,000 total and was given the official title of Training Day: Day of the Riot.[3][4]
Television[edit]
Set fifteen years after the film, the series follows a new police partnership and depicts events that take place within Los Angeles. Producers had intended to bring Ethan Hawke back to reprise his role as Officer Jake Hoyt, though negotiations fell through and the series was canceled after one season.[2]
