Travers Beynon a.k.a The Candyman

Travers Luke Beynon (born March 6, 1972) is the Australian business owner and Managing Director of FREECHOICE Australia’s number one tobacconist franchise and vending operation plus the owner of the Candy Shop Mansion. He goes by the persona “The Candyman”, and is a notorious playboy known for his extravagant lifestyle and wild parties.style="text-align:right"|

Early Life[edit]

Beynon was born in Melbourne Australia, his parents Trevor Beynon and Sandra Beynon founded FREECHOICE in 1991. He has a sister, Felicity Beynon, step sister Mandy Burnes and a step brother, Simon Beynon. Beynon attended Chairvaux College, a boy’s school on Brisbane’s South side for some of his high school years.

Beynon took an interest in AFL (Australian Football League) from an early age. At nine years old his parents would strap a football to his hands when he slept every night. In 1989 at 16 he was drafted to a North Melbourne team and became the youngest U19’s North Melbourne captain. His parents did not push his academics as he felt he would spend his life playing football. However, at age 17, Beynon broke his back in a career ending football accident.

During his time playing football professionally, Beynon was approached consistently by multiple modelling agencies, but it wasn’t until his major injury that he considered a career in modelling. A scout for America discovered him in Sydney and not long after he was signed to Elite Model Management in Miami Beach, Florida. Beynon immediately packed his bags and moved to Miami in 1990 where his modelling career began.

Modelling[edit]

During Beynon’s modelling days, he was known as ‘The Hunter ‘due to the hunger he has, he was described as a lion – nothing would get in his way. His first modelling job was for Levi Jeans which was shot in Mexico. He then went on to shoot for large luxury brands like Versace, Moschino, Valentino, Paul Smith and Calvin Klein.

Beynon was based in Milan and New York but was doing shows and photo shoots all over the over the world. He was earning between $2000 and $35,000 a day. He would take what he needed for rent and basic living expenses and send the rest home to his parents.

Career[edit]

Beynon returned home to Australia in December 1997. He had put a lot of his saved earnings into beachfront property which boomed in 2002-2005 which earned him a significant amount of money. During that time, he was also learning the family business working on the floor in vending then in the IT department at FREECHOICE which was owned by his father and mother, Trevor & Sandra Beynon at that time.

FREECHOICE is one of the largest specialist retailers of tobacco and related products, with 272 franchise stores, 32 co owned store (302 in total) and 1300 vending machines in pubs & clubs across Australia. It offers business interest in franchising, wholesaling and vending.  

In 2006, Beynon acquired 51 percent of FREECHOICE from his parents, with the goal of making FREECHOICE a household name, locally and internationally. At this time there were 12 employees and 100 stores. Now there are over 200 employees and 300 stores.

Beynon believes that FREECHOICE is more than a business, it represents his life motto “Freedom of Choice”

Personal Life[edit]

Beynon married Ninibeth Leal, a 5ft 11 Venezuelan former Miss World model when he was 25. Their wedding was in Venezuela and in Spanish and lasted 10 years. They had two children together, Valentino Luke Beynon (August 28th 1998) and Lucciana Beatriz Beynon (July 8th 2001). The pair separated in 2008, where Beynon won full custody of his two children in 2011 after a long court battle which lasted 2 years.

At age 37, Beynon met his second wife, Taesha Beynon when she was 18 and a hostess at his 2009 Candy Shop Mansion party. They married in 2011 and have two children together, Velicia Sofia Beynon (February 3rd 2011 ) and Serafina Aleta Beynon (January 29th 2012). Before they got married, Taesha’s parents asked Beynon for a $2.4 million loan which Travers rejected, and the families have had nothing to do with each other since then.

Beynon currently lives with his wife, four children and two girlfriends, Nisha Downes & Krystal Kime at his home on the Gold Coast which is better known as the Candy Shop Mansion. He has become known for throwing lavish parties and having a wife and multiple girlfriends living with him at any one time.

The foursome share three custom made king sized beds and have other woman join them most nights and weekends depending on what is planned.

The Candy Shop Mansion[edit]

Beynon has been throwing wild and extravagant parties for 22 years. His home, the Candy Shop Mansion is renowned for these parties which can regularly host up to 1500 guests, several DJ’s, performances and hundreds of beautiful half naked woman. It has been rumoured that these parties have budgets of up to $1 million plus. The Mansion boasts 15 bedrooms, 19 bathrooms, a ballroom, a cinema, a large pool and a garage full of his branded car collection including a Rolls Royce, Lamborghini, Ferrari, Bentley, G-Wagon and a Harley Davidson. Beynon has commented that his vision for Candy Shop Mansion was born over two decades ago. He was given the name ‘The Candyman’ by Australian media after he made headlines around the world for his ‘house parties’ which are held at the Candy Shop Mansion.

Beynon has a large social media presence and is regularly referred to in the media as the ‘King of Instagram’. With 800K followers on the social media outlet he is infamous for pushing the boundaries with his photos and videos of his life at the Mansion.

Beynon made international headlines in 2015 for posting a photo of himself leading his wife, Taesha Beynon and his girlfriend at the time, Kristy Engelmann around his mansion’s driveway on what appeared to be ‘dog leashes’ but were actually the girls bikini straps. This made national news on “A current Affair” which launched his profile both in Australia and internationally.

Travers Beynon Racing[edit]

In 2015, adrenaline junkie Beynon joined the Motorsport world as a driver in the GT Trophy Series. His love for Motorsport began by being exposed to the sport through work and has now raced successfully in Australia for the last 2 years.
