Trey Yingst, also known as Gene Yingst,[1] (born September 1993) is an American journalist. Yingst joined Fox News in 2018 as its Jerusalem correspondent after working as One America News Network (OANN) chief White House Correspondent (White House Press Corps). Earlier in his career he worked for BBC News for two years. He was also a contributor to CTV News in Canada.[2] He has covered domestic demonstrations, conflict zones abroad, and U.S. politics. He has reported from Ukraine, Rwanda, and Uganda.[3]

Yingst grew up near Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. He graduated from American University (School of Communication) in the spring of 2016. Along with Ford Fischer, he cofounded a web-driven news company News2Share in January 2012, while still an undergraduate at American University. [4][5]

Yingst traveled to locations in Ferguson, Missouri to cover protests Ferguson unrest in November 2014 after police officer Darren Wilson was not indicted for the shooting of Michael Brown and was briefly arrested.

Yingst has covered some crime beats in Washington DC, and Yingst also covered the protests in Baltimore in April 2015 after the death of Freddie Gray. Yingst was detained by police in Baltimore briefly and witnessed considerable street rioting and conflict at the time.[6][7]

Yingst covered protests in the Gaza Strip next to Israel in 2014. He was included in a private meeting with a leader of the KKK and persons from the Hacktavist Group Anonymous.[8]

Yingst was hired by One America News Network (OANN) in June 2016. After the inauguration of President Donald Trump, he was part of the White House Press Corps and often asked detailed questions, especially about national security matters, that tended to be factual and non-partisan in tone. He did a YouTube interview of Sean Spicer. He also showed an interesting election-related map being carried into the White House in 2017.[9]

In August 2018, Yingst joined Fox News,[10][11] as a Foreign Correspondent. He currently works at the Fox News Bureau in Jerusalem and does live reports. He was ordered to move during Gaza protests by the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) because protesters were throwing grenades and IEDs.[12] In Jerusalem he reports to bureau chief Eli Fastman.[13]

Forbes profiled Yingst on its "30 under 30" list.[14]
