Tribotecc GmbH is an Austrian producer of metal sulfides. According to the company's own information Tribotecc is the world’s largest manufacturer when it comes to various special metal sulfides. As functional additives, they are used in brake pads.[1] and clutch facings as well as in lubricants, polymers, powder metallurgy, abrasives, batteries and within a variety of other fields.
History[edit]
Tribotecc GmbH goes back to Bleiberger Bergwerks Union AG, founded in 1867, which had its headquarters in Bleiberg in Carinthia and had a large industrial area in Arnoldstein near Villach. From 1926 to 1989, the operational areas were outsourced from the Bleiberger Bergwerks Union AG into several legal entities, which were sold in the following years and represent the basis of the Arnoldstein industrial park still up till today[2]. Also today, the production of Tribotecc GmbH takes place at the Arnoldstein plant. In 2016 Tribotecc GmbH was sold by Albemarle Corporation to Treibacher Industrie AG[3].
Group structure[edit]
Tribotecc GmbH is a subsidiary of Treibacher Industrie AG and Treibacher Industrieholding, both owned by the private foundations of the Schaschl family and Rauch, the owner of Rauch Fruchtsäfte.[4]
