3)
3. It is a colorless liquid.
Production
Trimethylsilyl acetate can be obtained by the reaction of trimethylsilyl chloride with sodium acetate in a solvent (e.g. hexanes or diethyl ether) in the presence of a phase-transfer catalyst to speed up the reaction.[7]

Safety
Trimethylsilyl acetate is highly flammable. Its vapors can cause flash fire or explosion. Containers filled with this chemical may explode upon heating. This chemical must not be emptied into drains because of danger of explosion. It may cause serious eye and skin irritation. Inhalation of its vapor may cause dizziness, tiredness, headache, nausea and vomiting.[6][8]
