Tristan Thomas Beaudette (November 19, 1982 – June 22, 2018) was an American chemist known for his contribution to the invention of acetalated dextran (Ac-DEX), a biodegradable, acid-labile polymer that has become widely used in drug and vaccine delivery research.[1][2] Independent reviews of the material have credited this body of work, conducted in the laboratory of Jean M. J. Fréchet at the University of California, Berkeley, with introducing acetalated dextran to the field.[3][4]

Beaudette was shot and killed while camping with his two young daughters at Malibu Creek State Park in California on June 22, 2018.[5][6]
