Triton Funds is an American venture capital firm. Based in San Diego, CA, the firm manages assets totaling $25 million as of March 2018. Since its founding in 2018, TRITON has added 75 companies to its funds portfolio and grown into the largest student-run fund in the USA.[1]. Moreover, TRITON has provided thousands of hours of academic internship credit and community service alongside $2m in scholarship monies.[2]

History

TRITON FUNDS was founded in 2018 by Yash Thukral (a UC San Diego undergraduate). He created TRITON FUNDS with the intent of investing in and fostering the development of early-stage companies while obtaining academic internship credit.[3] Their investments are "mostly U.S.-based consumer product, internet technology, and life science companies considered to be ‘disruptive’."[4] Since its establishment, TRITON FUNDS is the largest student-run fund in the USA and is regularly included in the Top 5 most equity investors.[5]

About

Yash Thukral, Nathan Yee, and Sam Yaffa are the founders of TRITON FUNDS. In the Winter Quarter of 2018, TRITON FUNDS became the largest student-run fund in the US after officially launching.[3] Disclosed private backers pooled $25 million for TRITON FUNDS to launch and initially invest with.[5] TRITON FUNDS provides a resource for like-minded students to gain real-world experience in the financial field. Young adults learn real financial and basic work skills that can be used to further develop their professional careers from their time at TRITON FUNDS.[4] Mentors with years of industry experience help advise and guide the students who run the fund with valuable knowledge. The mutual partnership between the student and mentor is key to both parties' positive experience and knowledge gained.[5] TRITON FUNDS emphasizes a millennial perspective that gives them a chip on their shoulder to spot companies other funds may overlook. The fund emphasizes public life science and millennial-based companies and works with any company willing to grow and impact.[5]
