Intro[edit]

Trollbeads is a bead-on-bracelet concept. It is a jewellery concept that allows people to compose their own jewellery. People can design their own bracelet or necklace by adding a lock and beads to a chain. Each bead has a symbolic meaning and can represent a memory, story or personal characteristic. Finished bracelets are usually themed around symbolism or beauty, colour or occasion.[1]. Trollbeads jewellery can be separated and combined in new combinations repeatedly.

History[edit]

Trollbeads was founded in Copenhagen, Denmark, in 1976, by Lise Aagaard and is owned by the Nielsen/Aagaard family. In the beginning all Trollbeads was made of Sterling silver[2], but today the collection also includes other materials, such as gold and copper. The collection also expanded to necklaces, rings and bangles besides bracelets and beads. You can find Trollbeads in over 400 cities worldwide[3]. In 2000 they expanded to all Scandinavian countries. In 2003 Trollbeads entered Hong Kong followed by the United States, United Kingdom, Germany and Italy.

Products[edit]

Sterling silver Trollbeads were the first to enter the collection. They are made with a blend of new and ancient techniques. Most silver Trollbeads are modelled using the so-called 'cire perdu' or 'lost wax' method. This 3000 years old technique allows for fine details to be reproduced from wax to precious metals. In 1988 the first gold beads enter the collection. Golden beads are made in 18k gold. 18k allows the product to retain enough strength to withstand wear and tear, while also keeping its natural quality in terms of purity.[4] In 2001, glass beads were added to the Trollbeads collection. The glass beads are handcrafted using the lamp work technique. In 2001 pearls also became a part of the collection. Amber joined the collection in 2007 and in 2008 gemstones entered the collection with great success. The complete collection consists of bracelets, necklaces, bangles, earrings, rings, hair accessories and beads. The Trollbeads catalog currently features over 600 beads[5]

  • Simply modifying copyrighted text is not sufficient to avoid copyright infringement—if the original copyright violation cannot be cleanly removed or the article reverted to a prior version, it is best to write the article from scratch. (See Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing.)
  • For license compliance, any content used from the original article must be properly attributed; if you use content from the original, please leave a note at the top of your rewrite saying as much. You may duplicate non-infringing text that you had contributed yourself.
  • It is always a good idea, if rewriting, to identify the point where the copyrighted content was imported to Wikipedia and to check to make sure that the contributor did not add content imported from other sources. When closing investigations, clerks and administrators may find other copyright problems than the one identified. If this material is in the proposed rewrite and cannot be easily removed, the rewrite may not be usable.
State that you have created a rewrite on this article's discussion page.
