Trumaker is a San Francisco-based menswear brand specializing in made-to-measure shirts which are made in China. The company was founded by Mark Lovas and Michael Zhang in 2012. It utilizes a distributed salesforce to measure and sell directly to clients in person, and also sells directly to customers online through its website.[1][2]
History[edit]
Mark Lovas and Michael Zhang met in New York City in 2011. Mark had recently helped launch the Guideshops at E-Commerce retailer Bonobos. Michael was working at technology start-up Recycle Bank. They shared a common goal of starting a made-to-measure menswear brand, with Zhang focusing on a technology-enabled e-commerce approach, and Lovas looking to employ a direct selling strategy.[3] They combined efforts with the goal of building a technology-enabled direct sales company. The company raised a seed round led by RRE Ventures, Venrock, and a group of angels.[4] The company has grown and has sales people in several major cities. It raised a Series A led by Javelin Venture Partners in 2014.[5] The company expanded into made-to-measure blazers and off-the-rack products in 2014.
