Turbo cooking

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Turbo cooking is a hybrid way of quickly preparing food that may taste better than simply warming something in a microwave. For instance microwave something then place it under the broiler to be browned as a finish. Another way to turbo cook is to use near-boiling water from an instant-hot tap when starting soup or pasta.

History of Turbo Cooking[edit]

According to [1] the original air fryer was known as the sky plate. The sky plate was invented by a man by the name of William L. Maxson who was born in 1889 in Minnesota. Maxson was known for great inventions such as the Maxson Multiple Gun Mount, a mobile pillbox allowing allied soldiers to shoot enemy aircraft safely during the bombing raids of WW2. The idea of air frying came to Maxson when he wanted to heat up a meal in the air. The idea took place when he had a variety of foods in a freezer that could be served instantly after being heated up. However Maxson was denied from the military after and left to find new customers. Maxson could not find any type of customers which resulted in him selling his invention for cheap. Fortunate enough, Maxson's ideas lived on where many companies tried to replicate his products based on his original design of the sky plate. Years later, an air fryer was introduced in 2008 followed by many new designs of air fryers. Nowadays, air fryers are highly used by people in the food industry and normal families serving food in a much healthier way reducing oil and decreasing chances of getting cancer.

Turbo Cooking vs Deep Frying[edit]

For this comparison lets use French fries as an example.[2] According to National Library of Medicine, there is a significant difference in using a air fryer versus a deep frying. The research shows that air frying fries produces a lower mount of fat content but requires much longer time to process or cook.[3] According to webmd, air frying is healthier than frying in oil cutting calories by almost 100%. Mentioned in the benefits of turbo cooking, it is shown that air frying reduces the amount of chemical acrylamide which can lead to increased chances of cancer.

Benefits of Turbo Cooking[edit]

Air fryers are machines that undergo a process known as turbo cooking. The process of turbo cooking brings many beneficial health factors that normal oil frying would not.[4] According to MedicalNewsToday, air fryers only require a fraction of the oil that deep fryers need, leading to more healthful meals with the same flavors and textures. Other benefits of air fryers are the following: Promote weight loss, safer than deep fryers, reduce the risk of toxic acrylamide formation, and reduces disease risk. For weight loss, air fryers reduce the amount of oil intake from foods that could decrease the amount of weight taken in from fatty foods. In addition air fryers also reduce the amount of acrylamide formation which is a compound that forms in certain foods through cooking methods such as deep frying. Overall air frying can benefit those who want to enjoy fatty foods and cut on the unnecessary amount of extra oil intake.[citation needed]

Process of Turbo Cooking[edit]

The process of air frying is not actually done by frying the food. Instead, food is inside a basket in the machine an cooked by hot air blowing around in a convection effect. The only way that hot air is able to cook is when the temperature of the air is able to hit around 320 degrees Fahrenheit.[5]

Influence of Air Frying[edit]

Results from analyzing the influence of air frying showed that the fat levels were significantly higher than that of air frying. This is because air frying food catches the grease that drops while the food is being fried. Due to this major fact, air frying has been popular around the world creating a healthier way to eat fatty foods without the oil excess.[6]

Recipes[edit]

Turbo cookies are half baked cookie dough that is warmed in a microwave for about 30 seconds or so, just enough to melt the chocolate. This is much faster than waiting for the oven.
