Turris MOX

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Turris MOX is a modular open-source router developed by the CZ.NIC association.[1]

It has several modules which can be assembled together to get various features, such as LAN ports, Wi-Fi, or USB ports.[1] MOX contains various security features, such as automatic updates, DNSSEC support, or a dynamic distributed firewall. It can be used as a SOHO router or for other purposes, e.g. as a Nextcloud server[2] or as an LXC host for running containers with standard Linux distributions (such as Debian).[3]

Turris MOX has been crowdfunded on Indiegogo like its predecessor, Turris Omnia.

Modules

  • MOX A (Basic) – the main module with CPU, RAM, etc.
  • MOX B (Extension) – 1× mPCIe slot, 1× SIM slot
  • MOX C (Ethernet) – 4× GLAN port (RJ-45)
  • MOX D (SFP) – 1× SFP WAN port up to 2.5 Gbps
  • MOX E (Super Ethernet) – 8× GLAN port (RJ-45)
  • MOX F (USB) – 4× USB 3.0 port (up to 5 Gbps)
  • MOX G (Super Extension) – 1× mPCIe slot, 1× SIM slot

The schematics of all of these modules are openly available.[4]

Software

The Turris MOX runs the Turris OS, an OpenWrt derivative. It can be managed by web interfaces as well as by CLI. The main web interface is now reForis which is the successor of the legacy Foris; it offers features for regular users, such as WAN and LAN configuration or system reboot. Advanced users can utilize LuCI, the standard web user interface in OpenWrt.
