The Turtle Warning (also known as "Limp Mode") is a warning indicator that appears on the dashboard of hybrid and electric vehicles.

The Turtle Warning signifies a severe reduction in available power to protect the hybrid or electric battery.

Causes

Limp mode can be caused by severe cold, low car battery, sensor malfunction, low coolant or low engine oil. [1]

Effects

"You will suddenly have a severe power limit and will not be able to maintain freeway speed, go up hills, nor accelerate through intersections or on-ramps safely"[2]
