All of Tusker’s approximately 250 employees work from the head office, based in Watford, Hertfordshire, a county in the UK.

Tusker is owned by Lloyds Banking Group after it was acquired in 2023 from private equity firm ECI Partners [2].

History

2000 - 2010

Tusker was founded in the UK in 1999, receiving financial backing from investor Smedvig Capital, a London-based venture capital firm [3].

In 2009, Tusker acquired its first salary sacrifice car scheme customer, multinational law firm, Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, who offered the scheme to its 1,800 employees [4].

2010 - 2020

In 2010, Tusker was awarded as sole provider of the NOE CPC Framework, a collaborative procurement framework for public sector organisations [5].

In 2013, Tusker appointed Carbon Footprint Limited as their carbon offsetting partner to offset tailpipe emissions for their vehicles [6].

In 2015, ECI Partners, a venture capital firm, acquired Tusker, which was generating more than £100m in revenue, from Smedvig Capital [7].

In 2018 Paul Gilshan was appointed as CEO of the company. Previous CEO, David Hosking, moved into a newly created role of Deputy Chairman [8]. During 2018, Tusker joined a movement [9], created within the UK leasing industry to lobby the UK Government against a HMRC tax change, asking them to introduce grandfathering (exemption from a new law) for drivers that took out salary sacrifice deals from April 2017 [10].

In 2019, Tusker was placed on the Salary Sacrifice Cars and Associated Services Framework, developed by Leicester City Council [11]. Through the framework, it allowed public sector bodies to directly access salary sacrifice vehicles in full compliance with the Public Contract Regulations, 2015 [12].

In 2020, Tusker partnered with Reward Gateway, a global employee engagement company, to offer salary sacrifice car schemes to their customer base [13].

2021 – Present

In 2022, Tusker became a net positive contributor to the environment [14].

In 2023, Lloyds Banking Group acquired Tusker from private equity firm ECI Partners [15].
