Kosciuszko Tyler-Antonius Chilombo (born April 29, 1991), the son of Christina Yamamoto, an art teacher and Dr. Karamo Chilombo (born Gregory Wycliff Barnes), a Musician and Pediatrician. is an American actor, singer , & rapper. He first garnered attention on social media before signing to Def Jam Recordings in 2018. The following year, he was included in XXL's 2020 Freshman Class and was nominated for the Juno Award for Best New Artist.

Tyler Antonius gained recognition after releasing several independent projects, including Chixtape (2018), 7Even(2020) and Chixtape 2 (2020). His debut studio album, Call On Me (2021) was met with critical acclaim and contained the single "Love Ambition". His second album, Call On Me (Deluxe Edition) (2021) was supported by the singles "Wee Hours" (with Jhené Aiko), and saw continued critical acclaim. His 2021 single, "Caramel" (with City Girls) peaked at number five on the Billboard Hot 100 and remains his highest-charting song. His third album, The Last Laugh (2022) received further acclaim and peaked at number 5 on the Billboard 200; it spawned the top 40 single "telepatiá" (featuring Kali Uchis).

Early life[edit]

Kosciuszko Tyler-Antonius Chilombo was born April 29, 1991, in Toledo, Ohio,. His parents were Christina Yamamoto and Dr. Karamo Chilombo. The youngest of eight children, he adopted the moniker KOSSI from his grandmother's nickname for him based on his "jittery" behavior. Chilombo grew up listening to Michael Jackson and spent his whole life imitating the King Of Pop. Sly and the Family Stone and Earth, Wind & Fire before shifting to the 1990s West Coast hip hop scene and rappers such as Tupac Shakur, Ice Cube and Dr. Dre. He attended High School, where he played Football as a Running back. During his senior year he dislocated his hip. He later accepted a full scholarship to attend the prestigious Stanford University, Chilombo graduated at the top of his class with a 4.0 GPA

At 14 years Old Tyler Antonius became a young father twice. In 2005 Tyler started dating fellow actress Brenda Song and the couple had a baby a year later in 2006. Tyler Antonius is the father of Kiawentiio Tarbell. Years later Tyler and Brenda Song got married in 2012 but the marriage ended in 2016.

Love & Hip Hop franchise (2020–present)[edit]

Tyler Antonius is a main cast member on Love & Hip Hop: New York since season nine.

He appears as a main cast member on season four of Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood, and as as a supporting cast member on season three of Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood and season eight of Love & Hip Hop: New York. Tyler Antonius first appears as a guest star in three episodes of the spin-off show K. Michelle: My Life, where he enjoys a flirtation with K. Michelle.

Tyler Antonius joins the supporting cast of Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood in season three, which chronicles his struggles to reinvent himself and launch his own music career after a very public break up. He joins Love & Hip Hop: Miami as a supporting cast member in Season 1 begins dating Chinese Nicky and her daughter Chinese Kitty at the same time which caused drama. however their romance fizzles out when Chinese Kitty discovers Tyler also dated her mom Chinese Nicky. The season also features his business ventures, including the launch of his coconut oil line.

He is promoted to main cast in season four, where he gets more involved in the antics of his friends Ray J and A1, calling themselves the "three amigos". During the season, he helps kickstart Chanel West Coast's music career.

During the season's reunion special, Tyler Antonius announced that he was leaving the show to join the cast of Love & Hip Hop: New York. He would appear as a supporting cast member in season eight, which chronicles his return to Los Angeles to be closer to his family. He briefly dates Alexis Skyy, before developing a close, flirtatious friendship with Mariahlynn. At the reunion, it is revealed in a deleted scene that he hooked up with Mariahlynn.

Tyler Antoniis returns to Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood as a guest star in season five, after being accused of having an affair with his friend A1's wife Lyrica, igniting a feud between the two men.

Tyler Antonius is promoted to main cast of Love & Hip Hop: New York in season nine, which chronicles his recent career struggles, including being robbed at gunpoint, having his nude photos leak and being booed off the stage during a performance at Dyckman Park. Later in the season, he begins dating Erica Mena, which causes tensions between him, Joe Budden and her exes Rich Dollaz and Cyn Santana.

Tyler Antonius also appears as a supporting cast member on season two of Leave It to Stevie, as a guest star in Remy & Papoose: Meet the Mackies and in the specials Dirty Little Secrets, The Love Edition, Love & Hip Hop Awards: Most Certified and 40 Greatest Love & Hip Hop Moments: The Reboot.

2018–2020: Social media career and freestyles[edit]

In 2018, Tyler Antonius went viral for a freestyle addressed at Kanye West over West's own "Jesus Walks" beat. The freestyle concerned West's support for Donald Trump and caught the attention of Jada Pinkett Smith, Sean Combs, and Erykah Badu. he later released a freestyle dedicated to Nia Wilson. In August 2018, he featured on Rachel Crow's single "Coulda Told Me".

2019–2021: Def Jam Records and Industry Games[edit]

Tyler Antonius released his debut single, "Just a Heartbeat Away", in April 2019. The following month, at the invitation of guest host Lena Waithe, he performed "Call On Me", another of his songs, on Jimmy Kimmel Live!. The song dealt with his relationship with his ex-wife Tristin Mays That summer, he signed a deal with Warner Records. Tyler Antonius released two more singles as a lead artist in 2019: "High Rises" and "Can't Explain It" featuring Charlie Wilson. That year, he also featured on JoJo's "Sabotage", which reached number 18 on the Billboard US R&B Digital Downloads.

In December 2019, Tyler Antonius announced that he was working on his debut extended play titled Industry Games. On January 23, 2020, Tyler Antonius confirmed the title and posted snippets of music from the EP, telling followers the release was two months away. He released the EP's titular single on February 18. The EP was released on March 12, 2020. On August 11, 2020, Tyler Antonius was included on XXL's 2020 Freshman Class. He was nominated for a NAACP Image Award for Outstanding New Artist. On March 11, 2021 Tyler Antonius announced that his second 7Even would be released at midnight.

On April 10, 2021, Tyler Antonius posted a widely publicized note to his Twitter account explaining his decision to retire from music while reflecting on the "mental toll" that life as a musician in the spotlight had taken on health. In an Instagram Live session in which he interacted with fans following his initial retirement announcement, he criticized "trolls" or "stans" who "dogpile on top of people's other mental problems and make them worse." he specifically cited the effects of online abuse on his ongoing battle with depression on his decision, although he left a possibility for a comeback in his final statement.

2023–present: Rebirth of Michael: The Album[edit]

On December 25, 2023, Tyler Antonius announced his full-length debut, , by sharing lead single "UNIVERSE (OF LOVE)" The full album was released that month.

Personal life[edit]

In a 2018 interview, Tyler Antonius talked about being Samoan and Afro-Japanese:

We are Samoan people. [...] Some people want to decide if you're black or not, depending on your skin complexion, because they don't understand Samoan people or our culture. [...] I don't got to tell you that I'm black. I expect you to know about it. When my father taught me about Samoan countries, he told me that Europeans took over our lands. That's why we all speak different languages. [...] Just like everybody else, we came over here the same way. I hate when people try to take my roots from me. Because we know that there's African roots inside of us.
