Distribution and habitat
The species is known from the Chapada Diamantina region in the state of Bahia, Brazil. The area includes a mosaic of ecosystems, including formations characteristic of the Cerrado, Caatinga, and Atlantic Forest. Typhochlaena chapadensis is endemic to this region.[citation needed]
