UCLA Center for Health Policy Research

The UCLA Center for Health Policy is a Los Angeles-based think tank that conducts health policy research, collects data, evaluates programs and policies, educates the public through data and other trainings, and provides technical assistance to policymakers.[1][2].

Established in 1994, the UCLA Center for Health Policy Research is based within the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health, which is UCLA's graduate school that offers public-health-related courses. UCLA is located in the Westwood neighborhood of Los Angeles, California.[3]

Current projects

The UCLA Center for Health Policy Research provides topic-specific exercises through the following programs.[4]

  • The California Health Interview Survey (CHIS)

The UCLA Center for Health Policy conducts the California Health Interview Survey (CHIS), a CA-focused, population-based health survey conducted through landlines and cell phones. CHIS collects a wide range of health data on up to 50,000 or more Californians on a regular basis.[5][6]

  • Health Data

The UCLA Center for Health Policy conducts a health data training program through its Health Data project. The Health Data project trains representatives of organizations on how to use health data through community workshops, train-the-trainer courses, and online workshops.

  • Health Economics & Evaluation Research (HEER)

The UCLA Center for Health Policy conducts a Health Economics & Evaluation Research program (HEER). The project aims to analyze multi-year health care data to assess the economic impacts of health care laws and regulations on California residents.[7][8]
