UFO Recordz[1] is an established and independent record label founded on 19 April 2015 in Helsingborg, Sweden, by Jacques Maurice Julie and Darren Johnathan Bezuidenhout and specializes in electronic dance music and house music recordings, events, artist booking and artist management. UFO Recordz headquarters are currently located in Durban, South Africa, and the record label is a child company of UFO Network.[2]
History[edit]
UFO Recordz was founded in Helsingborg, Sweden, on 19 April 2015, where operations ran until mid 2017. The record label relocated it's headquarters to Durban, South Africa, in mid 2017 to cater to both up coming and mainstream acts in the country. UFO Recordz began as a single organization with focus on local artists and eventually merged into parent company UFO Network in early 2018 as an imprint, expanding it's operations to cater for the broader international market.
In November of 2020, UFO Recordz released chart topping hit single from USA based DJ & Producer BADDIES ONLY called "Aqui Las Colombianas",[3] which charted globally in 127 countries and amassed more than 300 million streams across streaming platforms. The release was also aired on SR International – Radio Sweden and on Sirius XM by Pitbull (rapper) Globalization Rotation.[4] UFO Recordz showcased a follow up by BADDIES ONLY and UK based Tech House producer PvssyCat in March of 2021 and featured Brittish singer and songwriter Neon Hitch titled "Una Locura"[5]
In January of 2021, UFO Recordz signed South African EDM duo Pascal & Pearce and release a 3 track EP called "Delta 7".[6] Pascal Ellinas & Dave Pearce founded the record label Luna Rising Music the same year and joined the UFO Network in 2021 partnering with Jacques Maurice Julie and Darren Bezuidenhout and becoming an official partner to UFO Recordz.
