UIC Payworld Inc. (formerly referred to as UIC), named after Uniform Industrial Corp., is a global PayTech and IoT embedded payments company that provides professional product solutions and financial services in the cashless payment industry. The group is headquartered in Taipei, Taiwan, listed on the Taiwan Stock Exchange[1] (code 2482[2]). The company has offices in Fremont, USA and joint partners worldwide to support global business.

History

UIC was founded in Taipei, Taiwan, in 1983 by Mr. Lo, who currently serves as the founder and CEO of the company. In the same year, the company also commenced business in IC packaging and contract manufacturing (CM).

In 1993, to expand its North American business and engage in local affairs, UIC established its USA office as a touch base. In 1998 and 2007, respectively, UIC planned to consolidate its professional payment products, acquiring the payment product divisions of IBM and HHP, and rapidly expanding market access. In 1999, UIC was listed on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.

In 2014, UIC acquired the NERA Taiwan subsidiary to offer payment integration services for banks, currently operating as the UIC service division. To expand its financial services in the market, UIC established its own Payment Gateway, which achieved PCI DSS[3] L1 certification in 2017. Recognizing the growing importance of payment services in the electric vehicles (EVs) and related charging systems ecosystem, in 2020, UIC joined the MIH alliance[4][5] for further application.

For nearly 40 years, UIC has been a trendsetter in payment readers, EMV systems, and is now continuing this trend in NFC and contactless products, financial service solutions, web3, and IoT payments. According to the Nilson Report[6], the international payment industry report, the shipment of UIC POS terminals has been ranked in the top 6 in United States.
