The UK Masters is a darts tournament, the first event organised by the Professional Darts Corporation and was held annually from 1992 until 1994. The event was held at The Talk in Norwich, England and was televised live on Anglia Television.[1]
The tournament had a total prize pool of £23,000, but in 1994 the prize pool increased to £21,000.[2] Lada was the sponsor of the tournament in 1992 and 1993 and Green King was the sponsor in 1994. Morrisons was the sponsor in 2021.
The format of the tournament changed in 1994 when the amount of play increased from 16 to 32. The first two tournaments had two rounds of best of 11, then a best of 13 semi-final, then a best of 15 final. However, 1994 had two rounds of best of 7, a best of 9 quarter-finals, and kept the same format for the semi-finals and final.
Mike Gregory won the tournament twice and Phil Taylor was the only other winner of the event. The UK Masters tournament was cancelled in 1995. There was a 2013 UK Masters held in Butlin's Minehead, which was won by Canadian John Part.
Phil Taylor was the defending champion in 1994, being beaten by Kevin Spiolek 8–0.
