History

Formation And Early Years

First live performance by URINE as a cybergrind band in 2019

URINE officially debuted with the release of their first song "F*** Mike Pence" on December 26th, 2018. After a couple of attempts to start a death metal band. Vocalist Nick Hauprich (Also known as Postal Malone) and drummer and producer Jacob Roberts (Also known as The Artist Formally Known As Sir Kix Alot, Casually Known As Jean Claude Van Damnation) made the first song with a laptop, and a USB microphone. Originally starting as a two-piece, in the upcoming months they would have more members join within the next couple of months. Very shortly after releasing their first song, they began working on their first EP, "URINE FOURSOME SHIT" [2] [3] [4]

"URINE FOURSOME SHIT" & "URINE FOURSOME SHIT II: THE TRICKLING"

After the release of "F*** Mike Pence" in late 2018, the two founding members decided to go for a much more raw and sloppy sound with their next release. Very consistently stating that they originally did not take the project seriously, their first EP, named "URINE FOURSOME SHIT" opted out of using guitars, and instead had cello VST's ran through distortion effects to create the sound of the project. Everything was done for as cheap as possible, with most of the vocal recordings taking place in closets, and inside cars. "URINE FOURSOME SHIT" while very much non-serious in musical production, was political in message. It also featured future members, Stephen Harrington and Brandon Collins (Also known as his nickname Breo) on vocals for a song. The project was released in mid March of 2019. Shortly after the release of "URINE FOURSOME SHIT" Breo (Known as PISS BARNES) joined as a full time vocalist alongside Nick. The three of them began work on what was supposed to be the first full length. A 53 song long concept album named "PISS INFUSED GUTTURAL TRASH'. They switched from cellos, over to a multitude of guitar plugins and VST's and began writing the album, about a creature who comes to life after people starting urinating radioactive material on a garbage heap after a nuclear apocalypse. It was around this time that BJ Patrignani IV joined the band as his first character: 'Lord Diabeticus'. However, after about 43 songs were completely instrumentally, and only a handful with recorded vocals, the laptop that Jacob was using became unusable, thus making the album completely lost media. Although a couple years later, a handful of them would be found in an email, and released on their first compilation album "GREATEST PISSES VOL. 1". After a new laptop was obtained, a very immediate production came on the next release which would be called "URINE FOURSOME SHIT II: THE TRICKLING'. This EP would be much more serious in sound, but was much less politically driven. The EP would feature future URINE vocalist Frank Cogliando (Also known as DANK SINATRA). The EP was released in early October of 2019, just 7 months after the first. During this time URINE played its first shows, calling themselves 'death metal karaoke' and performing with Nick and Breo using microphones, and Jacob playing instrumentals over his laptop. They would perform twice with this set up. [5] [6] [7]

"NIGHT OF THE PISSING DEAD"

After the loss of "PISS INFUSED GUTTURAL TRASH" and the subsequent release of "URINE FOURSOME SHIT II:THE TRICKLING", the now four manned URINE started their work on another full length album. Taking the name from classic horror movie "Night Of The Living Dead" they named this new project "NIGHT OF THE PISSING DEAD". At this point, Frank Cogliando had joined, marking 4 vocalists (Nick, Breo, Frank and BJ) and Jacob continued to do production with DAWs. BJ's character 'Lord Diabeticus' was killed off, and his new character 'Gint Eastwood' took over. Shortly after production began, COVID-19 swept through the world. This gave the members more time to work on the album. Going for a more sludgy and heavy sound, they started using more down-tuned tunings on the plugins, and taking inspiration from Vinnie Paul, Jacob and Nick used a lot of reverb on the drums. During production, another issue came about with the computer being used to make the album. Unlike "PISS INFUSED GUTTURAL TRASH", they had taken precaution by emailing an almost finished version to themselves. They would not end up releasing "NIGHT OFTHE PISSING DEAD" until July, 21st, 2021. This would be the last album to include non-real guitars and bass. It would also be the last album to feature BJ Patrignani as a full time vocalist, as his character was killed off and he left the band in late 2021. [8][9] [10]

First Live URINE Shows & "EXCRETA LOTIUM MIASMA"

In late 2021, the first actual guitar player, Joseph Grecco (Also known as BLAKK MYLDE) joined the band, Breo switched from vocalist to bassist, and Jacob went from producing everything on a DAW to playing Drums, and Nick stayed as a vocalist with Frank. They had accepted a one time only live show at a friends wedding and started practicing old songs, while also beginning to write new ones. It was also during this time they starting writing their next album, which would eventually be named "EXCRETA LOTIUM MIASMA".

The writing process for "EXCRETA..." was very different than any other album they had done before. By early 2022, Joseph Grecco ended up recording 2 songs with URINE, before he ended up moving to a different state. This led URINE to recruit Stephen Harrington, who had previously lent vocals for on the "URINE FOURSOME SHIT" EP to join as the band's now longest term guitar player. It was during this time as well, that URINE started playing their first live shows as an actual band.

Stephen took over recording the rest of "EXCRETA...", and did so at Baphometric Studios in Ballston Spa, NY. By the summer of 2022, URINE had picked up doing more shows, including for opening for Bonginator, Abraded, and good amount local term bands. It was around this time that URINE picked up it's first second guitar player, Nick Schuyler. Nick was URINE's shortest term member, only being in the band for a couple months. He was never featured on any recordings. In 2022, URINE released a compilation album featuring a bunch of unreleased songs that were supposed to be on "PISS INFUSED GUTTURAL TRASH". Originally released as singles on Bandcamp, "GREATEST PISSES VOL. 1" was filled with a bunch of songs not yet released on streaming platforms, including 2 songs never released before. It also includes the first 2 URINE songs ever released, and their cover of the Primus song "Too Many Puppies" In early 2023, URINE was close to finishing the writing and recording process for their sophomore full length, and focused more of their energy on playing shows locally, gaining a pretty good following. Known for their non-serious antics, like costumes, bubble guns, and a inflatable items passed around to the crowd, URINE continued to play local smaller shows until they finally released "EXCRETA LOTIUM MIASMA" on September 23rd, 2023. They also has opened for 'Born Dead Fest' earlier that month.

"EXCRETA LOTIUM MIASMA" became a major key in URINE's discography, mostly thanks to the single "Starr Sacrifice" featuring Scott Savaria of Dysentery which also became a staple for their lives shows for many years to come. It was also right after this, that another second guitarist by the name of Ben Godin (Also known as Crusty Chodes) from the bands x5x1x8x and Coquette joined the band, making them a five piece. During the beginning months of 2024, the vocalist of URINE announced that the band was splitting up. While no reason was officially given, people close to URINE state that it was most likely due to substance abuse by members, as well as other irreconcilable differences. Vocalist Nick Hauprich joined local metalcore outfit MARROW, and guitarist Stephen Harrington joined local thrash band Vaexus. While broken up, URINE released a second "GREATEST PISSES" this time, including their most popular live versions of songs, as well as the most popular songs for "NIGHT OF THE PISSING DEAD" and "EXCRETA LOTIUM MIASMA" Along with the release of the album, URINE released their first music video. It was for their song "Starr Sacrifice" and featured a bunch of live cuts from different shows over the years that URINE has performed. It is currently their most viewed music video.
