The US Peace Memorial Foundation is a nonprofit organization founded by Michael Knox in 2005 to honor Americans who work to promote peace. It awards the annual US Peace Prize.

History[edit]

War will exist until that distant day when the conscientious objector enjoys the same respect and privilege as the warrior does today. - John F. Kennedy

Its current chair Michael Knox established the US Peace Memorial Foundation in 2005. The foundation aims to promote a culture of peace, rather than one of war, by uplifting those who seek out alternatives to violence.[1][2]

US Peace Memorial[edit]

There are countless monuments to war in the United States, but peace activists are not celebrated by society in the same way.[3] The foundation is raising funds to build the US Peace Memorial in Washington, DC, as a monument to peace and progress.[4]

US Peace Registry[edit]

The foundation maintains the US Peace Registry, which honors individuals and organizations who publicly speak out against warfare and militarization.[5]

US Peace Prize[edit]

The foundation awards the annual US Peace Prize.
