Early Life and Education

Udayan Ambaadi was born to K Bhaskaran Nair and KL Oormila Devi in year 1962 in Kerala, India. After graduating in Science and completing his Masters in Arts, he pursued MFA in Photography from the University of Mysore. Later he did an appreciation course from Film and Television Institute of India, Pune. His systematic exposure to the technicality of photography played a key role in shaping his visual sensibility and approach to cinematography.

Career

Udayan Ambaadi made his debut as a cinematographer in the Malayalam film industry with Nayanangal (1989). He subsequently worked on a wide range of projects, including feature films and television productions. He gained wider recognition for his work in films such as English: An Autumn in London (2012), directed by Shyamaprasad, where he handled significant portions of the film’s London-based cinematography.[2] His filmography also includes Ottamandaram (2014), 8th March (2015), and Matchbox (2017).

In addition to feature films, Ambaadi has contributed to award-winning television programs.
