Umesh Perera
Umesh Perera (born December 1971) is a Sri Lankan-born British technology entrepreneur and media executive. He is the founder and chief executive officer of Ayozat, a UK-based media and technology company that operates broadcast, streaming and digital-rights platforms.[1][2]
Early life and education
Perera was born in Colombo, Sri Lanka, and moved to the United Kingdom during childhood.[3] He attended St Columba’s College in St Albans before studying engineering and computing at De Montfort University and Middlesex University.[3]

Early technological work
According to independent media profiles, Perera developed an early interest in computing and worked on networking and systems projects in the early stages of his career.[3]
Work during the Kosovo War
The Sunday Times (Sri Lanka) reports that Perera worked with Microsoft and the UNHCR in the aftermath of the Kosovo War to develop technology systems for identifying and supporting refugees.[1] The newspaper notes that these systems were later used in other humanitarian contexts.[1]
