Umidjon Mavlyanov (Russian: Умиджон Мавлянов, born 26 September 1983) is a British professional mixed martial artist.[1]
Early Life
Umidjon was born on 26 September 1983, in Bukhara, Uzbekistan.[2] He studied at a Sports College in Uzbekistan, commanding the likes of judo, sambo and boxing at an early age.[3]
Mixed martial arts career
Mavlyanov made his professional MMA debut in 2007 with Team Titan[4] under British MMA trainer Mickey Papas.[5]
Cage Rage
In 2008 he fought in the Cage Rage Championships. The young Mavlyanov started with excellent form, winning his first fight by TKO in the 1st round versus Azran Quasid.[6] He was defeated by the guillotine choke against Jody Cottham.
He met Michael Bisping in 2010 and considers him a close friend.[7]
Personal Life
Mavlyanov is married with two sons, Fazza and Khabib.[8]
He has been credited by Khabib Nurmagomedov for introducing him to many well known personalities and assisting Khabib with the organisation of fights. Notably Sheikh Hamdan, known as Faz3, MBZ, Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema, Marcus Alonso, Novak Djokovic and many others.[9]
