Umuabi Ezike

Umuabi is a Village in Udi Local Government Area of Enugu StateNigeria. Its headquarters is in the city of Udi on the A232 highway.

its geographical coordinates are 6° 17' 0" North, 7° 22' 0" East and its original name (with diacritics) is Umu Abi Ezike.

The postal code of the area is 401106..[1]

It is the hometown of Deputy Senate President of Nigeria, Senator Ike Ekweremadu[2] and International Businessman Sir Ezeh Bukis[3]

According to popular legend, the name Umuabi[4] derives from Umu Abi or "Umu Abi Ezike", which means "Children of Abi Ezike"

Umuabi was started by a man called Abi Ezike, who inherited the area and developed it sometime around the mid-to late 19th century, he's the son of Neke, the grandson of Agbaja[5]

Agbaja[5] has seven children which Neke is the 1st.

The children are: Neke, Oshie Aniugwu, Ojebe Ogene, Ugwunye, Ezedike.

Like his father Neke begot seven children too, who are called Umuneke

They are :

  1. Udi,
  2. Abia,
  3. Okwe,
  4. Agbudu,
  5. Agu,
  6. Abi Ezike[4] and
  7. Aga, this sons of Neke begot children that started the villages in Udi L.G.A

All people of Umuabi [4] are the children of Abi Ezike, who is the sixth of seven sons of Neke.

Abi Ezike begotted five sons, and they founded the five villages of Umuabi kingdom.

They are:

  1. Abia
  2. Ighum
  3. Alugwo
  4. Ogbuagbala
  5. Ufiala.

The other siblings of Neke also begot children that founded villages too

They are:

  1. Udi, Abia,
  2. Amaokwe,
  3. Agbudu,
  4. Obinagu and
  5. Umuaga
