University of Lay Adventists of Kigali (UNILAK) is non-profit private university in Rwanda which was established in 1997.[1] Unilak currently has three campuses. The main campus is in Kigali with smaller campuses in Nyanza and Rwamagana in the Southern and Eastern provinces of Rwanda respectively. Unilak obtained its legal identity as a non-profit institution under Rwandan law through the ministerial decree No. 89/11 of 2 July 2004, and it was fully accredited by the government of Rwanda through the Ministerial Order NO 002/09 of 09/04/2009.[2]

University of Lay Adventists of Kigali (Unilak) was created by the Federation of Adventist Parents Association for the Development of Education in Rwanda (FAPADER) which is and an association of several Lay Seventh Day Adventist Proprietorship of primary and secondary schools association that Includes;

-APADENYA

-APAER

-APARPE

-APARUDE

-ASPEJ

-UMWUNGERI and

-APADEM

UNILAK was approved through the Convention No. 001 of 3 February 1997, which was signed between the Government of the Republic of Rwanda, and FAPADER.[3]
