UnionMain Homes is an American residential homebuilder headquartered in Dallas, Texas. Founded by Timothy Gehan, the former chief executive of Gehan Homes, the company builds new single-family homes and attached housing in the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex and the Atlanta metropolitan area.[1][4] It markets its homes as "semi-custom", allowing buyers to choose floor plans, finishes and features.[5]
History
Background
Timothy Gehan co-founded Gehan Homes, a Dallas-based homebuilder, with his brother Glenn Gehan.[6] Japan's Sumitomo Forestry acquired a 51% stake in Gehan Homes in May 2014 and closed on the remaining shares in April 2016, after which John Winniford succeeded Timothy Gehan as president and CEO.[7][6]
Founding and Texas operations
Gehan founded UnionMain Homes in 2017 following the sale of Gehan Homes.[1][8]
In 2022 the company began building the first homes at Edgewater, a 161-acre master-planned community it developed along Farm Road 551 in Fate, in Rockwall County. UnionMain, along with Grand Homes and Shaddock Homes, planned to build about 650 homes at Edgewater over four years.[1]
UnionMain later became a builder in the West section of Walden Pond, a large multi-phase community in Forney, where it planned to build 200 homes across three phases. At that time the company controlled roughly 1,200 lots in North Texas. It also developed one hundred 60-foot lots for its Brookville Estates community in Forney.[8] The company is also a builder partner at Legacy Hills, a Centurion American development in northern Collin County.[9]
Expansion into Georgia
UnionMain expanded into metropolitan Atlanta in the mid-2020s. Its first community there was Maddox Landing, a single-family development in Hoschton.[10] In May 2025 the company opened Echo Park in Suwanee, a condominium and townhome community and its first attached-housing development in the region.[10][11]
In May 2026 the company opened a sales center at Three Rivers, a master-planned community in Rome with more than 900 homesites, offering seven floor plans.[2]
Operations
As of 2026, UnionMain Homes advertises 17 communities across the Dallas–Fort Worth and Atlanta areas, with home prices ranging from the $280,000s to the $800,000s.[4] Its Texas communities are located in Celina, Fate, Forney, Justin, Lavon, Melissa, Rhome, Royse City and Waxahachie; its Georgia communities are in Bethlehem, Hiram, Hoschton, Rome, Sugar Hill and Suwanee.[4]
According to Builder magazine, UnionMain closed 202 homes with revenue of $93 million in 2025, up from 184 closings in 2024. The company ranked 183rd on the magazine's 2026 Builder 100 list of the largest U.S. homebuilders, up from 192nd in 2025.[3]
