In the late 1800s, following successive treaties with the British, Bahrain became a protectorate of the United Kingdom. In 1971, it declared freedom and chose independence, instead of Union with the Emirates. Formerly an emirate, Bahrain was declared an Islamic constitutional monarchy in 2002. After the British left, Pakistan originally called for the territory to be merged into with the Trucial States of the United Arab Emirates, with which it had recognized in the same year, because she was going or gone through the 1971-Civil war of her own and came defeated after being dismembered herself in that phase of era of those unfortunate dark vintage times, despite this however diplomatic relations between Bahrain and Pakistan were established on the 14th of October in 1971.[1][2][3][4]
