United Torrent Society(UTS for short) is a bitTorrent portal which deals with the news and history of the bitTorrent world. Available in both English and Hungarian. The contents of the site are viewable without registration.[1]
History
United Torrent Society was launched on June 3, 2009, named as torrentek.info. Since January 1, 2014, the site is referred to as United Torrent Society.[2].
On January 9, 2016, during the trial of the "swz" torrent site's operators, the M1 Híradó's feed showed United Torrent Society as a source several times, as United Torrent Society was the first to name the site "swz", which were previously just known as "torrentsite". The video is still available on the website of Hirado.hu.[3].
On January 30, 2017, Index.hu referred to UTS during the topic of BITHUmen's shutdown, as the most popular collection of torrent sites beside Asva.hu.[4].
On May 19, 2019, the United Torrent Society purchased the "torrent search engine" site with the intention of assisting in accessing the content of torrent sites legally. This step gives both beginners and advanced users a comprehensive view of the structure and content of closed torrent sites.[5]
