Universal Coin & Bullion, Ltd. is an American precious metals company based in Beaumont, Texas.[1][2] The president of Universal Coin & Bullion is Michael R. Fuljenz, a numismatic author and spokesman.[3][4]
History
Universal Coin & Bullion was founded in 1994 by Lester Henderson, Robert Verde and attorney Tyrrell L. "Terry" Garth in Beaumont, Texas.[5][6] Soon after its inception, numismatist Michael R. Fuljenz took over as president of the company.[7] Fuljenz has been referred to as a top gold expert by various organizations in the precious metals and numismatic industry.[8][9][10]
In 1996, the company moved from its 7th floor Beaumont headquarters located at the Calder Bank of America Building to a larger office complex at the Bank One Building in Beaumont, Texas.[11] In 1999, the company suffered the loss of Lester Henderson, one of the original founders, to cancer. In 2002, the company built its own 40,000 square-foot campus to house its operation and its 60-plus employees. In 2007, another Texas precious metal company -- First Capital Reserve -- was acquired by Universal Coin & Bullion. In 2008, Universal Coin & Bullion was recognized as the official dealer in bullion and gold by the National Rifle Association.[12]
In 2014, Universal Coin & Bullion was listed as one of the founders of the National September 11 Memorial & Museum for donating $100,000.[13][14][15] In that same year, Universal Coin & Bullion donated $6,000 to the Beaumont Enterprise Empty Stocking Fund to assist in providing children with Christmas gifts.[16] After Hurricane Harvey came through the Houston area in August 2017, Universal Coin & Bullion assisted in the recovery of those affected by the storm.[17] In 2018, Universal Coin & Bullion brought to the Dallas, TX NRA Convention a display of recovered gold and silver from the wreck of the SS Central America valued between $7 million and $14 million dollars.[18] A year later, Universal Coin & Bullion made some of the recovered treasure from the SS Central America available for purchase.[19][20][21] Lee Greenwood partnered with Universal Coin & Bullion in September 2020 as a spokesperson for their company.[22]
Products and services
Gold, silver, platinum, palladium, rare coins, bars and the United States Mint bullion products are bought and sold by Universal Coin & Bullion.[23][24] The company also deals with mintage from other countries such as the Mexican Mint, Canadian Mint, Australian Mint and the Royal Mint.[25][26][27]
Universal Coin & Bullion is an authorized dealer for Professional Coin Grading Service (PCGS) and the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC). They are also members of the American Numismatic Association, and the Industry Council for Tangible Assets.[28][29][30]
