Universal Tractor Braşov

Universal Tractor Braşov, UTB or Uzina Tractorul Braşov was founded in 1925 as a Romanian-French joint venture for aircraft production under the name Industria Aeronautică Română. After World War II, it started agricultural tractor production, with the manufacturing of the IAR 22 tractor - the first Romanian made tractor. In 1948 it was renamed Uzina Tractorul Braşov abbreviated UTB, and known internationally as Universal Tractor Braşov.[1] [2]
After the fall of Communism there were a number of privatization attempts, including with Italian Landini and Indian Mahindra.
In February 2007, UTB ceased production and its assets and land were auctioned to a real-estate developer.[3].
